Below are comments and pictures (look for the links in green) sent in by HACA members and spectators!
.............
- What a fun weekend at Pine Hill. First of all, a Huge THANK YOU to Lew Smith for organizing and working Friday, Sat and Sunday making sure all went well, which it did. Thanks Lew.
THANK YOU...Tracie Hodge and David, Volunteer coordinators, you and your helpers were everywhere all the time, setting up, taking down, timing, finding people next in line, running all sorts of errands, from the work to the fun! I know that John Milligan and brother helped set up on Friday, Chyrl Goetzman and her neighbor Connie were there all the time, in their particularly cute green vests!! Thanks to Cat Cook for the announcements, especially the wake up song on Sat, God Bless America. Thank you for reminding us that it was Memorial Weekend. I know there were more volunteers and i am sorry if i left you off the thank yous, but know that we all appreciate your time and energy. Many of the drivers and gators helped out during down time too!!
BIG THANKS to Jerry McLennan for great secretary job and scoring and Linda Yutzy for scoring, answering all our questions, posting scores almost immediately and working so patiently with the kids {who were very well behaved!}. It was good to see Linda {and Pearl} out and about after surgery.
Now, the event was great!!!! Well attended, very organized, and FUN!!!! Great place, lovely views, lovely grounds for driving as well as parking. The weather was as perfect as it gets in late May in Texas, with a breeze most of the time. There is a restaurant next door, with good food and air conditioning. Good for gathering and visiting.
THANKS TO JUDGES: Bill Peacock was assisted by his always smiling wife Billie. Thanks Bill/Billie, great job!! Marianne Swim judged the VSE dressage, thanks Marianne,
THANKS to my Great Gator, Tammy Rose and to my ever tolerant steed, Benjamin for being way too much fun!!!
Couple of things, that really stood out about the weekend:
It was fun! The kids {and grown ups} were having a ball.
Great weather and plenty of shade to park under waiting for the next class
Vita Pariente had the BIGGEST smile on her face that i have ever seen driving out of double jeopardy!!!!!!!! Way to go Vita.
We had at least one new driver, go Sam Huffer.
There were at least four drivers from Up North, Douwe Plantinga, Patsy Davis and Mariette Zutter. Alta Pederson and her lovely new Morgan pony. Glad you folks traveled south!!
We had two World Class Drivers there, Mike McLennan {who drove double jeopardy with Claire Zadow} and Bill Peacock, judge. Thanks for your help, humor and encouragement and giving back to the driving community..
There is talk of having this event again next year.........all in favor, aye!

- The competition was really second for me. Just tested some driving skills in a fun format. Believe me I would never do walk - strong trot - medium trot - walk - reverse on my own! I thought Bill had lost his mind! But is was good for me to do that. Frances and I had a good laugh about it. The really fun part was driving Friday and Saturday afternoons. playing in the water, and just hauling ass down the trail with a pony that wants to go. I'm not sure if the tears were from wind or finally getting to do something I have wanted to do since 1988.
So I am for keeping the same format so that we can drive in the afternoon.
Thanks for doing the show, I loved it....Alta
