PLUM CREEK SWAP DRIVE A HUGE SUCCESS!
First of all want to thank all of the participants, volunteers, organizers, judges, scorers for Plum Creek.
Lisa Cox did a fabulous job of organizing and running the event. She was all over the place, keeping tabs on everything. Thank Lisa for that delicious brisket....she bartered some mesquite wood for 3 briskets.....and they were really good, both meals!!!!!!!!!!.
Thanks to Bonnie for those wonderful Cinnamon Rolls.....nothing quite like the smell of cinnamon rolls to get you going in the morn. Yum.
Thanks Keith for the prep work, setting up the cones, section E and being your usual everyready bunny self. Keith gatored for Linda and I and drove Tammy's pair. What a guy.
Thanks to Linda for scoring the dressage tests.. Linda always helps at these events, so much so, that when i want to find her, i look for her and her computer.
Thanks to Mike McLennan and Karen Garrett for judging......I didn't hear one grumble.......... that is amazing. We appreciate your comments and encouragement.
Amy Wink and Paula Long were there, helping where ever they were needed. Thanks to you both, we so depend on your skills for an event like this.
The competitors had a great time! Just a great time!. It was fun, relaxed and we had perfect weather.
Now, for a couple of things:
Chyrl Goetzman had an accident when she hit a tree with a wheel. It looked like the wheel climbed the tree a bit and tipped over enough to dump Chyrl and her gator/neighbor Connie on the ground. Chyrl hit her left shoulder, and fractured her left clavical and is sheduled for surgery next week. Her horse was bruised a bit from the jerk of the carriage, but felt better with some bute..........I am sure Chyrl wishes she would feel better with some Bute.........reminder, put a horse first aide kit in your trailer, with some bute, dressings, etc.
Now........Chuck Leshikar, owner of Plum Creek had a total knee replacement a week or so before the event and has had numerous complications. He stayed in ICU for several days and was very sick, on oxygen, etc. On Saturday eve, he was moved from the hospital to Warm Springs Rehabilitation Center in Luling. Several of us visited him on Sunday. He still had oxygen, but was sitting up and talking and looked pretty good for a guy most recently in ICU. The last I heard, he will stay in the Rehab Center for about 2 weeks to get up and going, then go home. Chuck, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers and we are sooooooo glad you are doing well. In the midst of all this drama, Nancy made her world famous bean soup with corn bread muffins for the group on Sat. Thanks to you Nancy.....and fyi, both the soup and muffins disappeared!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to all for a great event and we hope that Chyrl and Chuck continue to do well.

ANOTHER HACA MEMBER WINS BIG!
Al Bulgawicz just won the 2008 AMHA Tandem Driving World Championship! More info and pics to come. Congratulations Al!
To all HACA members:
We had approximately 25 folks show up for the meeting held Sunday, September 28 at Haven Hill. The following board members were present:
Marlene Collins
Chuck Brown
Karen Morris
Keith Yutzy
Bonnie McMurtry
The following directors were absent:
Mike McLennan
Terry Arnold
Mark Witte
Claire Zadow
Al Bulgawicz
Craig Langseth
Mark Witte was unable to attend because just a couple of hours before the meeting he cut his leg with a chain saw while doing Ike cleanup. I am happy to report that he is doing very well after receiving 13 stitches at the emergency room. Hope you recover quickly, Mark!
As people arrived, Bonnie was kind enough to handle the renewal of memberships, collecting for meals unpaid, as well as signing up some new sponsorships for HHDT. Good work, Bonnie - thanks!
The meeting was called to order at approximately 2:30. As outgoing president, I gave a short "state of the club" address, outlining what I felt were our accomplishments for the year and also where I thought we needed to continue to focus our efforts toward improvement.
Old business included a discussion of the Woodlands Christmas Parade, the Swap Drive at Plum Creek, and then Bonnie spoke briefly about Haven Hill Driving Trial IV.
New business included the election of four new board members: Sandy Smith, Chyrl Goetzman, John Milligan, and Anna Perkinson. My personal congratulations and thanks goes to these new directors.
Bill Peacock and Keith Yutzy gave a very informative presentation about their experiences in Poland, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and asked lots of questions. Linda brought along a very nice photo slide presentation to share with everyone. Thanks again, Bill, Keith and Linda.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:30, and we were served a very delicious meal by "Six Star Cook Company."
Thank you all, and a special thanks to our outgoing directors - Keith Yutzy, Karen Morris and Chuck Brown.
Regards,
Marlene Collins

Work Day at Plum Creek
March 21, 2008
Agarita Ranch, Lockhart, Texas
Folks,
It's Beautiful at Plum Creek
Lew & Sandy Smith, Tammy Rose, Cat Cook and I helped Chuck and crew with clearing the hazards on Good Friday. Keith was caught in Michigan with helping solve some problem with machinery.........
Thankfully, the massive clearing that was done last year and absence of monsoons this year, made it easy work and mostly cosmetic trimming. The whole place looks like a park. Just lovely. Nice grass covering over all areas, trees shading most of the trails, and the ground nice and dry.
Plum Creek CDE is April 26-27, just one month away and this is a reminder to send in your entries. The secretary, Sharon Gorry is out of state and will be traveling to Texas right before the show........so you last minuters,,,,,,,,go ahead and send in your entry forms and make Sharon's life a little easier. Also, to let you know, there are 8 RV type hook ups. If you want one, it's first come, first served, so get yours reserved as soon as possible.
So far there are several folks from out of state that have entered,,,,,,we hear it has something to do with Nancy's cooking and the friendly atmosphere .
Got to the Plum Creek Web @ www.pccss.org <http://www.pccss.org/> and you will find all the information you need on the event , local hotels, directions, etc.
We still need volunteers, so contact us if you or anyone you know will be able to volunteer. If you have any questions, let me know and i will point you in the right direction for help.
